Helen Burnside Named Director of Denver PTC

Denver Public Health recently appointed Helen Burnside, MS, as the new Director of the Denver Prevention Training Center (Denver PTC).

Helen has worked at the Denver PTC since 2008 and brings more than 15 years of experience in the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and HIV field.

The Denver Prevention Training Center is a program of Denver Public Health, a department of Denver Health, funded to educate health professionals about sexual health, HIV, STD, and patient navigation.

Founded in 1979, it is one of the longest-running grant programs at Denver Health and one of the first training centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Annually, the Denver PTC trains around 2,500 providers from diverse organizations across the United States.

Currently, the Denver PTC:

  • Provides HIV capacity building services to enhance services across the HIV care continuum
  • Provides STD prevention and care training and technical assistance services to improve STD care
  • Develops curriculum and provides training for the Colorado Patient Navigation Collaborative
  • Coordinates the national STD Clinical Consultation Network for STD management.
  • Manages the STD Clinical Toolbox mobile application.
